Chesterfords Capitulate at Langley

Saturday 19:05:07

Following a week of heavy rain, the idea of playing a game of cricket seemed a remote prospect. However Langley managed to shake off the weather and prepare a wicket to accommodate a game. Winning the toss, Chesterfords captain Wazz Mughal put the home team into bat. Chesterfords started well, with opening bowlers James Pullen (10 overs 0 for 17) and Mughal himself (6 overs 0 for 34) applied early pressure keeping runs to a minimum. Adam Miles (10 overs 1 for 34) and Walter Jackson (10 overs 1 for 54) continued in the same manner. David Perring was the outstanding bowler of the day taking 4 wickets for 48 off his 9 overs. Some sloppy fielding and missed catches together with some good batting by the Langley batsmen allowed the score to creep up to a respectable 199 for 6

In reply, Chesterfords got off to the worst possible start, losing David Lightning, Paul Phillips, James Pullen and David Perring for the addition of only 8 runs. Only Wazz Mughal (23) and Greg Watson (22) broke into double figures, as Langley destroyed the Chesterfords batting line-up reducing them to 75 all out.
