Chesterfords got there first victory of the season on Sunday
when they made the trip to Sampfords on a hot muggy
afternoon. Chesterfords won the toss and battled first
looking to post a solid total.
Chesterfords got off to steady start until opener Shaun
Stokley (5) was bowled by impressive S. Green (5-55). A
mini partnership of 30 then developed between R. Paskins and
skipper P. Phillips which took the score onto 42-1 which
soon became 47-3 when both Paul Phillips (19) and after some
excellent stroke play Rob Paskins (19) both fell in a matter
of overs. This brought Adam Miles and Jamie Kempner together
at the crease with both batsmen finding there rhythm and
timing from the off. A. Miles accelerated his innings
smashing fours all around the park and reached hešs maiden
50 for the club with a massive 6 over deep mid-on.

Kempner (26) supported A. Miles superbly picking off singles
a dispatching the bad balls to the boundary. The impressive
partnership came to an end on
85 and
the score stood at 140-5 with 8 overs to go. Chesterfords
finally managed an competitive 182 8 off there 40 overs
with James Case (25) finishing the innings off with some
fine strokes and was well supported by the lower order.
Chesterfords took the field looking for early wickets which
young Alex Marley (2-20 off 4) delivered, beating the
outside edge on a number of times and causing problems for
the top order. With the score on 20-2 after 8 overs
Sampfords fought back with a 65 run partnership and swung
the game in there favour moving the score onto 85-2 of 22.
With the introduction of A. Miles
(4-43
off 11) and Shaun Stokley (3 26 off 7) changed the match
with some outstanding bowling and was well supported by Ross
Laird ( 0-23 off 4), Mark Stokely (0-14 off 4) Steve Tapping
( 0 13 off 4) and James Case (1-23 off
5) . The
combination of excellent bowling and tight fielding put the
pressure on Sampfords and fittingly to finish off a
fantastic day A. Miles took the last wicket off the match to
bowl Sampfords out for 171.
