Paul is a home grown
player, who came through the clubs colts
system and has now progressed into a
Saturday team regular. In addition to this,
he has been vice captain of the Sunday team
since 2003, and is heavily involved in the
clubs current colts setup and ground
preparation. It is a measure of how much
Paul has worked on his game that in the 2004
season, he was the clubs second most capped
player.
Paul is a solid opening
batsman, a role he has excelled in in recent
years. A lover of time cricket, Paul likes
to take his time, anchoring down an end and
fiercely guarding his wicket allowing the
team to build an innings around him. He has
scored several half centuries for the club,
and in 2007 scored his maiden club century. Paul is often used as a
part time leg spin bowler. He can turn the
ball and give it plenty of flight which
later in an innings often causes the
opposition batsmen to panic and self
destruct. Not the most atheletic fielder, the big man is
employed as a shot stopper in the field and
has a safe pair of hands. He mostly fields
at square leg, in the gully or at wicket
keeper. Since 2007 Paul has been the Sunday
cricket captain |
